Time sure does fly when you're having fun! I have been busy as a bee cooking, cleaning, chauffeuring, teaching,etc. All is well. The kids are doing great.
The boys are doing soccer this summer and Hannah is having a blast in summer gymnastics training 6 hours a week. Elisabeth's burn is healing well and our preemie princess no longer looks preemie. I hope to bring this blog back to life this autumn.

Rice again...

Those are the words I was trying to avoid tonight when I ordered pizza and wings, because who really wants to eat fried rice for supper, then lunch and then supper again. We ate the pizza it was alright at best , I looked at the bill and realized that I was overcharged nine dollars. Five full bellies for $41, DH can make a gourmet pizza for a quarter of that. There is a knock at the door which eventually leads me here. My stomach turns, I feel so sick, so silly. For the same price of our over charged pizza I can sponsor a child for a month.

Not a doubt in my mind that the Lord led me there.

We are going to sponsor a little girl. Our God is an awesome God.

Meet Hannah

Hannah is our resident drama queen, we are working around the clock to mellow her out before it is too ate. lol

She is three and a half and very smart. Sept 2009 she started doing preschool work. She is learning to read and write and is doing quite well.

Hannah is a early riser and really enjoys doing all things domestic. When she is not tending to her dollies she usually can be found by my side baking, cleaning or helping out with laundry.

She is growing too fast!

Since it has been quite some time since I have been posting regularly, I plan to reintroduce everyone. The kids have grown quite a bit!

Here is Elisabeth Ruth, this little miss will be one year old on the 22nd of this month!

11 months right now with 5 sharp teeth.

A lost Virtue

Modesty is know these days as the lost and forgotten virtue. It is an issue that has been on my mind quite a bit lately and I have been studying scriptures and doing a ton of reading, about modesty and the present obvious lack of it in our western world.

One of the books that I am currently reading is

A return to modesty: discovering the lost virtue

By Wendy Shalit
It is extremely thought provoking and covers so many areas of life where modesty should com into play.
I am half way through it and so far I like it despite the cover (that I have been hiding with a cotton book cover).
I might post a full review when I am done. Also when I get a moment am going to post my full reading list in the sidebar.

Our Kids love pancakes, as do. I am not picky and like pretty much any variety of them, and I have become accustomed to making them in different was for different days. Small, light and fluffy when DH is on the his way out, thick and filling dish size, thin dollar size, with berries or chocolate chips. Maybe we will have them today some bananas and tomorrow with vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Our table is always set up with many spreads, jams, butters, fresh fruit etc. My husband ( being from Quebec) he loves 100% maple syrup and has an abundance of childhood stories and memories of school trips to make syrup and making it at home :) He also prefers French crepes over pancakes. I make one or the other every weekend.

Here are some of our families favorite recipes. To make them I simple mix wet and dry ingredients separate then together and then I make them in a non stick pan. I usually double or triplet these recipes based on who is eating and how hungry I think they might be. Also many times I quadruple the recipe, cook them, and freeze them in ziploc bags of three or four ( one serving). Vanilla, cinnamon, diced fruit, berries, nutmeg, chocolate chips, or what every your family likes can be added right before you cook them, just stir it in. As for the crepes these are the ones I make. To make a thinner batter add more milk, for a thicker one add more baking powder, and for a more filling one add an extra egg and a bit more flour.

1.5 cups flour

1 tsp salt

3 tbsp baking powder

1 tbsp sugar

1 1/4 cups milk

1 egg

3 tbsp melted butter

simply yummy pancakes

1 cup flour

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp veg. oil

Light & Spongy Pancakes

1 cup flour

1/4 tbsp salt

2 tbsp sugar

1 egg

1 cup buttermilk

4 tbsp unsalted butter

Eight years...

Eight years ago yesterday I was 15 years old and in excruciating pain.

God was there.

It was just a few weeks earlier that I had discovered that I was expecting my first child.

I was lonely, lost, confused and sad.

I was called a loser, an embarrassment, pathetic, and many worse thing that I dare not utter on this here blog.

God was with me.

I was not a Christian.

I did not believe that could love someone like me.

It was a lie, whispered to me daily.

My Heavenly Father loved me unconditionally.

October 27th 2001 I had an appointment.

Not at the dentist but with a doctor, the kind that kill.

An appointment not made by me
,but one I was told by an elder that I MUST attend.

A threat that I shall not repeat.

For the first time in my life I prayed.

Not a Hail Mary, or Our Father that we recited each day in school.

A true prayer from my tarnished blackened heart.

I pleaded with the Lord.

He listened with opened hear, arms and ears.

" Please, please, please I beg of you! You say you are Lord Most High. Do something! Do not let tomorrows' appointment come. I will take my life if I have to do that. I cannot live with myself. I might not be a good person but I am not a murderer. You said ask and I shall receive; I am begging you. "

He watched me, heard me, He was with me, then He answered.

As I sat in the bathroom in unbearable pain crying for help,
but no one cared for me except Him.

With a sharp pain, a pop, and a massive gush,
my waters had prematurely ruptured.

Apparently despite my slim figure I was further along
than previously thought.

The details of what happened next will remain with me,
perhaps to be posted at a later date.

In the end in the back room of a hospital with the help of to "God sent" midwives, I gave birth to a breech baby boy who never took a breath outside the womb, strangled by the cord on his way out.

I never looked at him... I did not have the required courage.

It is one of the biggest regrets of my life, I should have looked.

I named him Jesse Johnathan which means

God Exists and God has given.

"...the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." JOB 1:21

I have have experienced much distress, hurt and heart break in my little 23 years of life. But it is only recently that my eyes have become open to see and understand that I was never alone. I used to cry out to the Lord "where were you when ______________. " Now I see how my Heavenly Father was there more than any other. I see how He watched over me, loved me, guided me.

I am eternally gratefully that God exists and God has given.

Nostalgia

Both my sister and I had easy bake ovens. I had wanted to give mine to Hannah but it is currently a condo for the massive spiders in my mother's basement. The spiders are so big that even my husband would not touch it. A friend of mine gave her one for her birthday and today we finally got around to using it.

Hannah amazed that she actually made a cake with a light bulb.

We were out of sprinkles so she suggested chocolate chips.

I am glad she did :)

She was eager to share.

Some mango lemonade to go with, as per her request.

I cannot believe that she is three already! She loves to sing as she works and is eager to learn how to read. Her daily enthusiasm pushes me and makes me strive to be a better teacher. When she meet s people she likes telling them that her Heavenly Father is The King of Kings and she is a princess " fearfally end wondafally made"

Around here autumn means birthdays! Our Nephew turned eight this past sunday, monday Isaiah turned seven, Hannah turns three on friday and we have a tea party planned.

Aunts, uncles, more nephews, friends, in-laws and Imanuel on November 5th, so many people to celebrate between now and Christmas. If I become scarce now and again it is probably because I am knitting, sewing, crocheting,baking , or cooking something for someone's big day.

Autumn is truly birthday season around here and it is one of my favorite times of the year. No snow (yet) , and no scorching sun rays. Mild uneventful weather. All the non home learners are back to class and places like the science centre and the museum are quiet again. Apple from the farm to my pies. We enjoy apple crisp, apple cider, fresh apple juice, apple sauce; we like apples.

Early autumn sunsets from our high-rise so pleasing to my eyes. A new sets to knit and crochet. Hats, scarves and mitts times six. Getting a headstart on making Christmas gifts, it is less than 100 days away (92 to be exact).

I has been back to school as usual around here. I was meaning to post all last week but never got around to it. I am glad to be back to our "regular" schedule, I think summer was a bit too chaotic.

Hannah is really enjoying school and is working on her writing and letter recognition. She wants to learn to write stories like her brother. She is so eager to learn and I am blessed to have her as a daughter and student. She is turning 3 in a few weeks and every time I think about it I start to worry. There is sooo much to accomplish and yet every year of life feels as if it goes a little bit faster with a little less done. Was it not just spring? What have I done since then?

This morning Hannah asked to read with me, we read Matthew 6 (her choice). When my eyes fell upon Matthew 6:25-28 it spoke to me so well; as our Heavenly Father always does.

²⁵ “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? ²⁶ Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? ²⁷ Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
²⁸ “So why do you worry about clothing? I really tend to be a worry wart. Most times I just shrug it off as my motherly nature. All moms worry right? But this morning it hit me like a brick, I need to, want to, have to stop. So I am working on it. I am praying about it. If you are a self confessed worry wart then join me.

Patiently Waiting

My online absence is due to our laptop dying and me with the flu.
We were blessed to have a nice coworker of my husband fix our laptop for free.

When someone is doing something for you and asking for nothing in return the least you can do is keep your impatient thoughts to yourself. It was a long two weeks but I am glad that I waited because the computer is now as good as new and saved us $200+ in repairs.

Also of course we are still patiently waiting for our newest arrival. My OB is taking march break with his kids so I have no appointment next week. If I haven't given birth by my next appointment ( on the 25th ) then he will sweep my membranes.

I know beggars can't be choosers but I do not want to give birth this weekend, I still have the flu. Anytime after the 20th would be nice because DH is on holiday till after easter. Just letting my wishes be known, just cause you never know.

ETA obviously I still have my February header up because of all of the above, I will get to it sometime before March is over.

ETA see I told you I would get it done.

I am sitting by my couch taking a break from folding laundry, yes that is right I am back home. So i am home with out a baby:( since the amniotic sac seams to have mended itself, my ultrasounds have showed increased fluid each day, and I have not developed any type of infection , my OB sent me home to cook this little one for a bit longer. For those of you who do not know the amniotic fluid is basically the baby's pee and it increases everyday. As long as I do not leak the water will return to normal levels.

It was sort of frustrating because I was being told that I would be induced so I was preparing myself for that. Now I am home so I am quickly readjusting. I still have to go to the OB tomorrow to make sure I am still infection free, but other than that things will be back to normal I guess. If I do develop an infection, or leak anymore I will be induced.

I am quite tired with the "unknown", but I do know that I cannot be preggo forever and I only have 5 weeks left till my due date.

I am on antibiotics 4 times a day for infection.
I am super sensitive to it so I am not really keeping much down.
My mom as the littles till tuesday.
If I do not go into labour or get induced before then, I will be all alone:( because DH will have the kids again.

Stop teasing

That is the first thing that we are planning to tell this little one when he or she finally comes out. I am blogging from the hospital high risk unit. My water broke yeasterday morning. I stayed in bed all day and went to triage at about 7 pm. This is my third time here in less than 2 months. It seem like I had a high leak that has now mended itself. I will be here for at least another 48 hours for them to monitor me for infection and possible induce tomorrow ( when the baby will be 35wks). I got induced with Hannah at the end of week 34 so I am not too worried.This is so tirersome because me being here affects my three kids who miss me,my mom who leaves work early and my husband who misses work at both his jobs "just in case" the baby is actually coming.

Well anyways I must go back to bed now, please pray for us.

Our hopes and prayers are that the baby will either arrive safely this weekend or stop teasing us with these tiring false alarms.

32 weeks

I am so glad that we have made it this far, our babies are usually early arrivals ( with the earliest being 24 and 28 weeks).

I just hope that the next few weeks fly by just as quickly as the past ones have. We thought that my bed rest would end this week but apparently I am to take it easy for two more weeks. That is a bit nerve racking, the house is a mess, there is a mountain of laundry in each bedroom and the storage closet. On top of it all the computer is going to the shop tonight and will not be ready until sometime next week. Being on bed rest was boring enough but now with out internet I guess I will be knitting up a storm.

I never thought I would be so eager to clean and do laundry but honestly I cannot wait.

Some women scrub the walls,some people cook and freeze postpartum meals, and others rearrange the house. When I am nesting I usually clean the room, re-do all of the baby's laundry, pack my hospital bags and then give birth within two weeks. The number one thing that I do is make lists. I am a list person and never function quite well without them. Since I am still on bed rest I can pretty much only make lists. When it comes to giving birth to one baby and leave the other children to do so, I feel the need to make quite a large sum of lists. Here is a lists of lists that I need to make( mainly for my personal reference but read on if you please)

Hunny I killed the plant

When I was younger my mom told me that I had a green thumb and would be great with plants just like her. I really am beginning to doubt it.
One of the things that my hubby gave me for my birthday was a Dracaena marginata. The Dracaena is supposed to be an extremly low maintenance plant, all it needs is indirect light and occasional watering( the root will rot if soaking wet). You normally see these plants at the bank or the dentist office; places where no one remembers to water it and it still grows tall and strong.

When I first got it, it looked perfectly healthy but within 48 hours of my care all the leaves are falling off and the remaining leaves are going limp as I type. It is (was) so pretty, the base of the plant is curved into a heart.

Yesterday was my 23rd birthday.

Yesterday for the first time ever I really did not care that it was my birthday. Normally I would countdown through January and be anxious for all 21 days. I it can just be said that I have officially grown up. The children were more excited than I and were quite unimpressed at my unwillingness to bake myself a cake.

We managed to go out for a late supper which was utterly splendid. Since I have been on bed rest so long I treasure all outings. I had veal and potatoes and then strawberry cheesecake for dessert(my favourite) and the kids were almost on their best behaviour. The night was perfect until some guy stole my husband's briefcase which just happen to contain every piece of identification he owns,his business plan and at least 30 envelopes of our mail that he was planning to shred at his office. That event turned him sour for the night.

Today he was able to watch the man steal it on a security video. Apparently he was walking away with it when DH was more focused on the little ones.

After seeing the video he was able to be at ease and thank the Lord that the man just took a briefcase of replaceable items, not something irreplaceable like one of our kids. Also this event has shown us that whether it is your bags or your children, letting them out of your site for 20 seconds is 20 seconds too long.

It all feels so weird, to be able to say that again. My classes officially start this morning, online and correspondence through Athabasca University.

I have found it kind of amusing planning my new daily schedule because now I will be not only teaching the kids but studying, learning, "homeschooling" just like them. It will be interesting the day that one of them attempts to say that I don not understand, I will have some good answers.

I am a French/English double major...just in case you were wondering. If you are looking to do some post-secondary courses but you are a sahm, sah daughter, or even if you are working and were thinking of returning to school , take a look at Athabasca University

Well at least that is what my calender is saying. The weather around here still looks and feels like spring.
We are done school for this term and Isaiah will be doing grade one in september(maybe late august, not too sure yet. It will be our first full homeschooling year.
My laptop is on its death bed and I will not be getting this new one for at least another month.

So with all that said I will be taking a vacation from my computer to spend more time being a housewife and reorganizing my home and my life. I will be back in september or august(whenever we start school).

It was one of those nights...

Deo came home more than 2 hours late.
As a result I ate (the Thai takeout he brought) at 11ish.
Which was probably not great for my weekly Friday morning weigh in.
We then attempted for the 5th time to watch "The Constant Gardener" without falling asleep.
We made it!
We went to bed.
Hannah then woke up.
She then said "MAMMMMMMMMMMMMA" and "MUMMMMMMMMMY" at least 500,000 times repeatedly until 5 am when she finally about (4 hours later)got to the point and said that she wanted some juice.
One glass of apple juice later and she is ready to sleep.
But she cannot sleep and neither can I because both boys a now awake
We send Isaiah back to bed and I promptly feed Imanuel who is clawing my nightgown to get some milk.
Finally all the kids were sleeping (at about 6), when I was supposed to be up and taking the shower.
Forget that schedule
I went to go sleep on the couch.
It is nights like these that make me wonder why we bought a queen instead of a king.
The couch is not comfy at all and I literally had to talk myself into going back to sleep.
Right when I reach REM 1 I was startled by Deo over me with that baby.
He was still hungry.

It is 2:40 now and I still have not slept.

I am going to take a nap.

Despite the fact the Imanuel has been brushing for months now he just cut his first tooth on Monday.
Last year with Hannah I pumped breast milk and she drank from a bottle quite early on ( plus she cut her first tooth at 12 months). Way back in 2003 with Isaiah I stopped breastfeeding at 6mos the day he cut a tooth and bit me. So with that being said this is the longest that I have breastfed for.
I am aiming at at least one year but only time can tell. It also depends on whether or not I get pregnant before then(which is quite likely) and if he bites.

It has been all thunder,lightning and lots of rain around here and as a result we did not get to go out to the park. Lightning and kites just don't really mix so we had to improvise.

We had a indoor picnic on our family room floor. Soup,sandwiches,brownies and sweet tarts filled our tummies. The kids really thought that it was fun and Deo was actually quite content,( as he is not the biggest fan of mosquitoes). When you picnic on your family room floor it is much easier to avoid them.

Today is a cleaning day! The house has becoming quite the pig sty lately; as we have been spending the greater part of our days outside.

Father's Day is tomorrow and the children and I are planning a picnic and kite flying at the park down the road. We bought a very large kite at Costco last week and still haven't even broken the seal. We will be using that one and some homemade kites.

You can make kites too! I found a bunch of tutorials yesterday.

It is eleven in the morning and the kids are already exhausted and napping. I think the heat is causing me to move in slow motion these days. As a result I have been trying to wake even earlier so I can beat the heat and get the most vital things done; laundry, food prep and dishes. If in the morning I can cross those 3 things off my list then our day runs pretty smoothly.

Overtime I have realized that laziness, excuses, and procrastination can quickly turn a days schedule astray or even into chaos. As a result I have been trying to eliminate them all from my life (I was such a procrastinator)!

I have a feeling summer will be making a early entrance this year. It was very hot and humid out. For those of you who have not experienced Southern Ontario's heat it is comparable to that of a sauna. Being asthmatic this weather is dreadful, as it is quite hard to breath. It is 34C out right now(93F) and 72% humidity.

Imanuel is seven months old today! It is so hard to believe that it has been that long. Here he is less than a week old.

Now he is such a big boy now. Here he is attempting to brush his teeth.
